What is the HCG Diet?

The HCG weight loss program was first researched and developed by Dr. ATW Simeons. It consists of a very low calorie diet (VLCD) accompanied by treatments of HCG injections. HCG is short for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone produced in great amounts in pregnant women.

How does HCG work?

The HCG hormone mobilizes stored body fat to be used for fuel making the HCG diet truly unique! How is Cypress Medispa’s HCG Diet structured?

Our 28-day program may include an initial body composition analysis, pertinent lab work, 4 weekly visits for weigh-ins and coaching, 23 Daily HCG injections, weekly B12 injections and continuous support including recipes and a future message board for patients to share their success stories and helpful hints. After you have completed your initial HCG cycle, we will transition you into Phase 2 that often includes a Liver Cleanse.

What do I need to do to get started?

Prior to starting the HCG diet, we may conduct blood tests and perform a general health assessment. For individual injections, generally no preparations are required.
On the program, HCG is injected into the body daily. The syringes used are very small needles, and the dieter experiences very little, if any, discomfort. If your physician has you self-injecting, specific sterilizing processes are involved and certain steps can be taken to reduce the discomfort.

What is HCG?

HCG has been known for over half a century. It is the substance which Aschheim and Zondek first used to diagnose early pregnancy out of the urine. Based on Dr. Simeon’s studies on Obesity in Pregnancy, HCG was also found to facilitate healthy weight loss.

The HCG diet utilizes the HCG hormone best known for its ability to maintain a healthy pregnancy. During pregnancy, the substance almost completely controls the woman’s metabolic functions. In non-pregnant persons, research suggests HCG similarly increases the metabolism similar to a pregnant female, although delivered in much smaller dosages.

Who can take advantage of the HCG diet?

HCG is safe to be used in men and in women. The dose is too small to cause true hormonal changes.

How much HCG will I be taking daily during the HCG diet?

Though a pregnant woman can produce as much as one million units per day, according to Dr. Simeons and his research, an injection of only 125 units per day is an ample HCG dose to reduce weight at the rate of roughly one pound per day, even in someone weighing 400 pounds, when combined with the 500 calorie diet.

How is the HCG hormone combined?

HCG starts out as a vile of HCG powder and a vial of bacteriostatic water. We then mix these together at the proper HCG levels (between 125 IU and 200 IU) and store it in the refrigerator. The HCG hormone will keep for about 1 month after combined into liquid form suitable for injection.

What about maintenance on the HCG Diet?

As we mobilize stored fat we release stored toxins in that fat and may need to decongest the liver, our main detoxifying organ. Avoiding simple carbohydrates for another 3 weeks is critical to maintaining your weight loss and to preserving your digestion. Introducing new foods one at a time is recommended.
